Crestchem is a privately owned chemical distribution company based in Amersham, U.K. Established in 1989, it is now part of the MKR (Meade-King, Robinson and Co Ltd) Group of companies. Crestchem represents a number of major raw material suppliers whose products are required as components in the food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and general industrial sectors.
Crestchem had a very dated website which was not representing the company in its best light. Being a global firm with many overseas customers, and being one of many subsidiary companies under the MKR umbrella, a new website was needed with an international feel for a worldwide audience. This website was planned to be part of a ‘family’ of sites and be used as a framework for other sites under the MKR group.
The main challenges were to redevelop the visual branding and create a new logo that would be distinctive and of sufficient quality for a global audience. Also, designing a website that can be used as a framework for a ‘family’ of related websites and sister companies can be difficult as any design and layout has to be suitable and appropriate each which means gaining an understanding of all the subsidiary companies at the beginning of the project would be important.
Initially, we helped Crestchem develop a new logo. A series of ideas were generated, sort of like a digital sketchbook. These ideas were discussed and refined until we arrived at the logo that Crestchem liked and that they felt represented them. We performed research and discovery into all the sister companies that would be using this site as a framework for their development and opted for a slick, flexible, and minimal high-end appearance that clearly and succinctly promoted the products available from the company.
Chemical industry supplier website: After launch, the website has provided an impressive and effective interface for customers, and potential customers, to make enquiries about specific products available from Crestchem. The site is clearly compartmentalised which enables visitors from different industrial sectors to navigate directly to products that are relevant to them. We’ve monitored enquiries and the new site has resulted in a sharp increase of enquires and requests for information.
