High spec trade website design
Builder’s website: Unique Home Improvements (UHI) has been established for over twenty years and has extensive experience across a wide range of different projects providing a range of building services for residential customers. Central to the firm’s ethos is providing customers with a quality service and excellent finish on every job they do.
Trades websites, such as builders, electricians, plumbers, etc. can have a tendency to be a little bland, thrown together, and cheap looking. Websites should be a reflection on a company itself so if UHI wanted to convey the high quality of their services, then the website needed to be similarly high-quality. Cyberfrog created the brief for this project which was to, essentially, project UHI in the best possible light and set them apart from the local competition it terms of quality, online presence, and customer perception.
Unique design was going to important to visually differentiate the company from its competition. Engaging content and imagery would need to be the main interest to website visitors; house extensions are often the second-most expensive purchases for most homeowners so good quality imagery and written content that engenders trust were to be vital.
Actually collecting this content, especially imagery, would also be a challenge as it often is with any website project.
In order to ‘stand out from the crowd’ we opted for a ‘landscape’ asymmetric design and used grace colours from the logo to create a slick, high-end and modern design. Using overlapping geometric shapes we created an almost ‘building block’ appearance. Carefully segmented sections of the site enable visitors to clearly navigate to those of interest as well as click straight through to relevant case studies featuring high-quality imagery of past work and projects.
Trade website design: The result is a website that is not traditionally representative of domestic builders due to its high-end appearance which properly projects the philosophies of the company to the customer. Stripped down written content and informative imagery enables visitors to explore the most important part of the site – the case studies. Allowing visitors to ‘see what my house is going to look like’ is key to generating phone calls, enquiries, and new work for Unique Home Improvements.
