Industrial company website design: C. P. Hood Mechanical and Electrical are a well-established mechanical & electrical engineering contracting company operating from the North West of England with a wealth of experience spanning over thirty years. They operate nationally and offer a diverse range of services across all market sectors.

CP Hood required a website that would properly promote the work they do across a range of sectors and industries. The company’s old website was very much orientated around the services provided without any emphasis on project outcomes or evidence of the firm’s capabilities on multi-million-pound constructions. The principal requirement was to ‘sell the sizzle, not the sausage’ (or the vegetarian alternative).

CP Hood is pretty much spilt down the middle with equal weighting between mechanical and electrical services. This needed to be evident in the design of the site. Project work also needed to be front and centre of the website’s messaging – while service detail was still important, it was more important for website visitors to see the size of projects CP Hood had worked on and what the company is capable of delivering.

Firstly, we updated the colour palette for the branding of the site. Red and blue are tricky colours to work with. CP Hood’s red and blue were a little ‘Windows 98’ in hue so while we kept the logo as it is, we developed more muted and modern complimentary tones of each colour for the design.
The home page was used to define the 50/50 spilt of the main service areas, and case studies are prominent on this page. While service descriptions are still important, this content is almost secondary. The philosophy was ‘firstly, this is the work we have done, and secondly, this is how we did it.’

Industrial company website: The new website now gives a much clearer overview of the breadth of work CP Hood undertakes, the wide range of sectors it operates in, and how far across the UK the company has worked. This site now acts much more as a portfolio website and plentiful use of imagery for each project has enabled us to cut down on the amount of written content that was required. Case studies also clearly state if the projects were mechanical, electrical, or both.
