What was needed?
The project brief... Visit the website

Atlantic Chambers already had a website that was quite old and built with outdated coding and techniques. Other notable barristers chambers had recently updated their websites to suit modern technology. The Chambers needed a solution that was up-to-date and enable solicitors to browse the barristers at the Chambers and see key areas of expertise, experience, notable cases, and add them to a printable PDF shortlist. The website also needed to be a platform for promoting practice areas, events, and insights.

What we considered
The Challenges... Visit the website

This website, essentially, was to be a tool for solicitors to select suitable barristers for their clients’ court appearances. Solicitors are busy so, therefore, we needed to create a system that allowed visitors to easily see barristers’ key areas of expertise to assess suitability for the case without too much clicking around. Being able to see key information about each barrister in order to add them to a shortlist was a key consideration. In addition, suitable, but modern, design for the legal sector was important.

What we did
Our Solution... Visit the website

Opting for a clean and clear design was decided upon to ensure an easy reading experience for website visitors. The home page features large imagery with a high profile ‘find a barrister’ call-to-action. All barristers appear on one page with roll-over options to see a summary of areas of expertise, a short bio, and year of call. Options are included on this page to add to a shortlist or to click through to a profile page for full details. Large imagery was used in the design with a clean and fresh blue colour scheme.

How it turned out
Outcomes... Visit the website

The result was a much-improved website experience for solicitors to source suitable barristers. Website usage has increased by 70% from around 5000 visits per month to 8500, plus a significant increase in ‘time on site’, which shows that the website is a useful resource for solicitors. In addition, Atlantic Chambers’ website admin are using the site more regularly for news and posts due to the backend being easier to manage than the previous website.
